Have you ever wondered why people do those crazy and unthinkable things in their marriage or relationships? I mean things like spousal killing, abuse, cheating, malice, unforgiveness, nagging, anger, and the likes; meanwhile, in the beginning, it was not so.
No matter who you are or your upbringing, education, exposure, experience, or belief, you’d do bad things to your partner for as long as you’re a slave to those things I’d share with you.
Most times, religious people, especially Christians usually think bad people do bad things because they’re not saved or born again. But I’ve found that as untrue. I have seen so-called genuine Christians who misbehave at times, and it would leave one to wonder if they’ve truly met Christ.
Are you in a love relationship or marriage and your partner behaves in a way you do not like? Or the way you react to them is bad and you later regretted it?
I’ve found the cause. Mind you, you mustn’t be influenced by these two things, else you’d misbehave and treat your partner badly, even if you profess your undying love all the time.
While I was doing a meditative study in the scriptures, I found out that the devil has no power over you if the door of your life hasn’t been opened to him through your flesh.
The first reason why people do bad things is that they are controlled by their flesh. Whether you’re Christian or not, rich or poor, young or old, educated or illiterate, carnal or spiritual, for as long as you obey your human nature, you’d do those bad things he wants you to do. And it’s through your flesh the devil would get access to your life.
You can be blood-washed, tongue-talking, anointed, or spirit-filled, but, if the flesh has not been dealt with in your life, you’d do its bidding. The flesh is the reason why people commit sin, and it’s the enemy within.
The flesh is the reason you’d say yes to your boyfriend or girlfriend who wants to have unlawful sex with you. He’s the reason you’d cheat on your faithful partner or you’d allow yourself to be controlled by anger or any negative emotions.
Think about it, why do wickedness thrive so much in the heart of men and women, and they blame the devil for it? I’m sure that on the other side of the divide, the devil would be exonerated from most evil people ascribed to him.
The flesh is that human nature everyone inherited from Adam, including myself. However, only a few people have been dead to it, meanwhile, many are still alive to it.
Don’t blame a person who cheats on their spouses or points an accusing finger on their spouse for the bad things they do, foremost, blame the enemy that lives within them.
If you don’t deal with your flesh, it will deal with you ruthlessly. No matter how much you try to be good or nice, if you don’t destroy the old man in you, he’d prevent you from enjoying your relationship with your spouse, colleagues, friends, and family members.
That said. The next reason people do bad things is as a result of negative influence – from people or the media. Many would have kept their sexual purity had they not met that man or woman who lured them into the illicit sex.
If the devil failed to get you through your flesh, he’d make attempt through people who are closer to you. Because he failed when he tempted Jesus Christ, he came through Peter, and Jesus was discerning enough to recognize the voice behind him.
If you don’t want to do bad things in life to yourself and the people around you, then you must not be a slave to your flesh and the will of men.
I wish some logical principles could help you overcome, but honestly, there’s none. The only way you can overcome your flesh and never allow the will of men to influence your decision in life is to be dead. Yes, death, but not the physical one. And this can only happen through the death of the Cross.
However, it’s not enough to be a Christian or go to church, you must be dead to your flesh and the will of the people who want you to do bad things, then be born of God.
One of the greatest Bible writers, Apostle Paul stated that the good he wants to do, he doesn’t do them, but the evil he doesn’t want to do, he found himself doing it. And he cried out loud, “Who shall deliver me from this body of sin?” At last, he found victory. You too can!
People do bad things not because they’re not “good,” educated, nice, or kind, they do bad things because they’re slaves to their human nature, and they obeyed the negative voices of people who want to mislead them which they were ignorant of.
Would you continue to treat your partner badly, or allow yourself to be driven by the negative opinions of men and women? Come to Jesus; He has the solutions to your problems only if you’d open up the door of your life to Him.
Remember, a good man, out of the good treasures of his heart brings forth that which is good; and an evil man (or woman), out of evil treasures of his heart brings forth that which is evil. Evacuate the flesh, so your life can be controlled by His word and Spirit.
